Bill

Not to put to fine a point on it, but why in a proclamation that should have
the support of all citizens regardless of how they chose to recreate would
you post a long rant against other recreational users? Why alienate anybody
when the objective is to bring citizens together in support of buying a
piece of ground that should and would be cherished by all?

It requires funding and support from a lot more people in this state who
chose to recreate using off road vehicles than from people who chose only to
hike. Do you think kicking them in the teeth assists in gaining backing for
the funding needed?

Even locally, guys like Dan and other Latah county off-road vehicle users
want to see that area preserved. Do you think that motorized
eco-destruction, land-destroying ATV drivers and these machines and their
un-thinking drivers as statements make the local ATVers, who have worked
hard to support enforcement and stop those activities more likely to use
political capital in support of the proposal?

Latah County does not have the $600,000-$700,000 it takes to buy the lands
in question. It will take strong combined local support and strong support
from people outside of our area to get the State to put up the funding and
support to make this happen. Let’s not see alienating rhetoric ruin the
chance to get preservation of a unique ecosystem saved for the future
enjoyment of all our people, including the ATVers.
