In the LMT article today:
Former UI official pleads guilty to felony
By JOEL MILLS
of the Tribune
The following is found:
'Schoenberg, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also voluntarily paid the UI $3,707 for items and services he purchased with auxiliary services funds for LDS functions, said his Moscow attorney Wynn Mosman.
"It's Mr. Schoenberg's desire to pay those, not because they were criminal, but because of the appearance of impropriety and the university's concern about them," Mosman said.'
Question:
How is stealing $3,707 from the UI and giving it to the local LDS Church not criminal?
If the local LDS church knew the source of these funds, then how is accepting them not criminal?
