Nancy,
Thank you for your response. Please no that I would
not reverse my efforts made working on your campaign.
I think it was time well spent helping to put you on
the council. There is no doubt that you have made some
valuable contributions to the city.
I also know you well enough to know that you would
never orchestrate or consent to the negative tactics
that have been used in this campaign. Which is why I
am puzzled and hope you can explain why you never
responded to this mudslinging if you knew about it
even before it was put to print in the INKSter column.
So far, some of your top supporters have also attacked
Weber and Lambert. I hope you show the leadership
expected of a city leader in your public denunciation
of these tactics and in the asking of your supporters
to not attack other candidates instead of sitting
quietly as the political beneficiary of them.
Thank you for your service to the city, Nancy, and
your responses to public concerns. If elected, I am
sure you will always do what you believe is best of
the city.
Take Care,
Donovan J Arnold
Dear Donovan,
You did work hard on my campaign for Council and I
still appreciate
those efforts. You acknowledge that I have been a
valuable member of
City Council for two years. You know that I am an
honest, fair, civil,
intelligent person. Presumably, you will also surmise
that I would have
none of the tactics posted by the likes of "Jane Doe."
Please do not
confuse my opinions, practices, or personal integrity
with the likes of
those who get their satisfaction from slinging mud.
The first I heard about Vera's fateful column came
from Peg, just
before
it ran. She and I privately cleared the air of
concerns relating to the
fallout. I am confident that if you ask her, she will
affirm that
there's no way I would inspire, encourage, support, or
tolerate the
practices so abhorrent to you and to me.
The outcome of this election is too important to base
our votes on
gossip, superficial appearances, peripheral
smokescreens, or single
issues. In many ways, the mayor represents our entire
community. I
encourage you and everyone else to be as well informed
as possible and
to vote your conscience. The best candidate should be
mayor, not just
the one who is left standing in the mud bath. I invite
your comments
and
questions. Donovan, you know me better that that!
Sincerely,
Nancy Chaney
