Nick

Sorry I did not catch your initial response in the reams of postings
unrelated to Moscow’s future that seem to avalanche through this list. I
had to go back to find it hidden in the clutter.

I think that the measure of sufficiency is met when the opposition refuses
further engagement or resorts to violence. Sounds like you have done your
part, but have the others?

Joan, for one example, claims to have engaged the issue by drinking beer for
four hours with the children of the principle, prior to refusing further
engagement. Its strikes me that that level of effort fall far short of
yours.

The trouble at this point is one of escalation. How does movement to
criminalize the ideas of a religious congregation meet any test for measured
response?

Further, I have seen in actions taken in regard Naylor Farms, a situation in
which no meetings or discussions were even brooked. I note that in that
case you suggested that the Naylor’s should have presented their ideas to
the community, but I ask, when were they given such an opportunity?

I watched as members of the Naylor family tried to present their ideas in
any forum that would give them a listen and saw them offer to meet any place
and any time. There were a gob of meetings held, but they were pointedly
not invited, though there were plenty of people with absolutely no knowledge
of them or their plans given center stage at the events.

I have talked to any number of community members who have been subjected to
similar ‘witch trails’ over other matters or plans. Engagement may be your
response, but seems to be sorely lacking in many others in this community.
Drawing and quartering following Star Chamber judgment seems to be more in
line with the average from what I have seen.

When I see Lois Blackburn write letters to the University’s President
accusing Wilson and the CC of incitement to murder and possible involvement
in the disappearance of people, I tend to think that things are perhaps over
the top. When Wayne Fax feels free without ever having talked to me to
demand of the Attorney General of the State of Idaho that I be jailed for
expressing my geological opinion, I might feel free to think that things
might be out of control. When local government operations turn into nothng
but endless rounds of attempts to zone people and activities out of
existence, I might just think that the community as a whole was caught up in
vendetta mode.

So its refreshing that you do not take part in such activity. Maybe you
might want to suggest that others follow your example.
