Chas,
I agree with your analysis here, but for one point. We are talking about
the story of the Eternal Creator of everything humbling 'himself' and
becoming a baby for the purpose of recreating the entire cosmos-dirty
diapers and all. There is something 'impossible' about that, and there is
something a bit lovely about that kind of impossibility. But of course, we
are not talking about a logical impossibility. Rather, the Church Father
notes this when he said "I believe because it is absurd." For him, it was
too absurd not to be true (although I'm sure we could find ways of
disagreeing about that around here!). But consider, mere myths might be
able to uplift the heart during winter spirit season, but they are not
powerful to save. Right?

I submit that Nick was being humble. I found his socio-psychological
version not despoiling, but uplifting.
> You make the true one, with all its wonderful impossibilities
An impossibility is merely an impossibility. There is nothing "wonderful"
about the impossible. The possible, on the other hand, can be marvelous.
The possibilities of life are what give us hope, and charity, and meaning.
