[Vision2020] The Nuclear Option (re: School Levy)

The MSD website's facilities section has 22 links to information. The
district has put out information (not campaign material) about the process
and the bond over the course of the FPC's work. My facilities file is five
inches thick; not one document is secret. The website's facilities section
has been continually updated. The FPC has produced a number of articles and
handouts about the process and the bond. I wrote a few of them. You may
have just received the MSD newsletter, School Connections, with several
pages of facilities/bond info. Many folks, myself included, have attended
MSD and/or FPC public forums, open houses, and worksessions about the bond
and the process leading up to it. All were well advertised. CQE recently
produced a flyer about the bond, including a "did they consider?" section
for the FAQ connoisseurs among us. I and Dr. Donicht and many others have
given numerous radio and newspaper interviews. And, as you all know, I've
spent a bit of time lately on Vision 2020, trying to answer questions.

The inclination of some to not avail themselves of information regarding the
bond does not equal a disinclination on the part of the district to operate
with integrity. On the contrary, if we're trying to stonewall, then I'd
say we're doing a damned poor job of it.

But we're not. It's been there, it is there, and

Humm, perhaps that is because the MSD did not create a website that had FAQ.
If you did that, you would not be asked 500 questions.

When your plan is unclear, documents are not available, and you ask for a
lot of money, "You should been there" does not tow the line for a "yes"
vote. And even if it is passed, we still want to know the answers, it is our
money.

When the Graduate Students at UI have a big proposal we create a website
with questions and background about the issue. Let people look at everything
and ask questions. We also do not say question are stupid. Because when we
do that, it makes other people fearful to ask questions. Then we never get
the questions we should be asked. Rule number one is if one person asks a
question, ten others are thinking the same thing.

If your are getting 500 questions and they are the same 500 questions, that
ought to say something about the planning and dispersion of information, not
the people asking the questions.

Take Care,

Donovan J Arnold
