Carl, Ted, Debbie, Dan, Ben, etc,
To my understanding Ted sums your ideas with this line:
"But suggesting this local blood drive would discriminate against
>non-Christians because a Christian group is involved just reinforces the
>claim that the
>"progressive" critics are paranoid and intolerant!"
A few basic points for Liberals, Christians, and Conservatives:
One, I am a Christian, and I am a Liberal; Christ is WHY I am a Liberal. So
this argument that I was discriminating against Christians really doesn't
make any sense whatsoever. If you check my records you will also find that I
am the only one that filed suit against UI for a religious organization
because it was Christian, when the Muslim, Native American, and African
American, and Indian religious groups did get funding for their religious
groups.
Second, If you check my past posts you will see that I have stated many,
many times that I am a member of a family with a long history of devout
Catholics.
Third, I have been a long time advocate for blood drives, spent years
promoting every blood donation drive that UI had. I have donated blood and
plasma for years, I have the scars to prove it. I also helped raise over
$15,000 for the Red Cross.
Fourth, my statement is what my statement is. For the life of me, how you
get 25 pages of comments out of a one sentence comment that can be taken at
face value is beyond me.
Fifth, discrimination against Gays and Lesbians and all people from certain
African countries that are 95%+ African is discrimination against Blacks. If
you look at the policies that the American Red Cross uses, it uses a policy
that only accepts blood from "living a conservative pure Christian
lifestyle", that is the reality of the policy.
Sixth, what the hell does Christ Church have to do with any of this? Christ
Church doesn't make this policy, it doesn't decide what questions to ask. It
is only one of many, many sponsors of this event. And not the only one I
necessarily disagree with.
I am sorry if all of you think it is OK for the Government to say that it is
not ok to be Gay, Lesbian, and Black, and give Blood. It is not my fault
that you disagree, or think it is justified. I believe that it is not
justifiable, and I am going to continue to proclaim that it is not, at every
chance I can, because I believe dropping their policies is the BEST way to
increase the number of donations and save the most lives. If you wish to
ignore my statements, that is your choice, if you wish to put words in my
mouth, that is your choice, if you wish to say you are a liberal and I am
not, that if your choice. But it is my choice to continue to point out
discrimination when I see it, as I see it, because that is MY RIGHT to do
so. And you if you do not like it, tuff, because I am going to keep saying
it until Bush takes away my First Amendment rights.
If all 513 people on V2020 say it is not discrimination, I will keep my
opinion, if all 21,215 people in Moscow say, they disagree, I will still say
it is discrimination. My opinion doesn't derive from the number of incorrect
people stating the same incorrect statements.
I am happy to be able to unite the Liberal Carl and the conservative Dan on
one issue that it is OK to discriminate against Gays, Bi-Sexuals, Blacks,
and others who do not follow the Christian lifestyle in civic duty of
donating blood.
I just hope I can get through to enough people that this policy is wrong so
that someone doesn't die because there was a lack of blood because they were
afraid the stereotypes of a gay guy, or the black guy, might be true.
Being Gay doesn't mean you have AIDS, and being from Africa, doesn't mean
you have AIDS. The Red Cross and others have a policy that operate on this
assumption. It is a stupid, stupid policy.
Take Care,
Donovan J Arnold
PS, This email is what it is, don't read into something that isn't there,
and please don't connect it to Church Christ through 18 connect the dots
conspiracy.
PSS. Ted, smart Progressives are paranoid with Bush in office.
