Yo, Janesta!

It seems that you CC'd this to every newspaper in the free world but the
National Enquirer. Don't you like them?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Take care,

Tom Hansen

I feel in the political climate we are living in these days, ALL ideas are
important and have an impact on each and every one of us. We need to stand
up, and shout if need be, so that our voices are heard above the din of King
George's rhetoric. HOWEVER, that said, when something is sent to another
PRIVATELY, it should remain private, unless the person receiving it gets
permission to share it from the sender, with the rest of the group. I
belong to a paying chat site, if a private message were shared, the person
sharing it would be flamed but good! Believe me, it is NOT a pretty sight!

Yes, I did send the post below to the rest of the vision2020 group, as I
felt since my privacy was breeched, I wanted people to know how I felt about
it.

I graciously accept your apology. I understand how things can get under
the "heat of the moment".

Let this be a lesson to us all, that in the future, we take a deep breath,
maybe six or ten deep breaths... read our replies over... and over... and
over... and only THEN, press the send key.

May you all enjoy this pleasant spring evening! I am heading outside now
to plant a few crawling, viney flowering seeds for my fencelines. You know
what "they" say... Good fences make good neighbors? I thought I would make
mine pretty. *soft laugh*

  Enjoy the week!

    Janesta,

I am sorry if I did not notice that your previous message to me was not
sent to all Vision 2020 readers.

The [Vision 2020] heading was in the subject. Once seeing that, I
carelessly did not look at To: address. That was my mistake. Had I noticed
the differences in addresses, I would have responded to you privately. I
again apologize for not noticing the solo addressee on your email.

In some cases private messages resulting from Vision 2020 posts have
been posted to the entire forum for a variety of reasons. Your post was one
that had I been more careful, I would not have forwarded. I notice,
however, the post below was sent to the entire forum.

However, you did raise a legitimate issue: What ideas are allowable
and how are they to be allowed to be expressed on Vision 2020?

Perhaps, there are as many different opinions on this matter as there
are Vision 2020 posters. We now have some idea of what Don Coombs' opinion
is.

From my previous answer you can tell that I was one of those that saw
more than prudishness when John Ashcroft covered the bare breasts of
Justice. His shrouding action was symbolic of his closed approach to what
should be public business and open to robust and varied discussion.

Thank you for your open remarks; I sincerely hope that you can forgive
my egregious mistake in accidentally making a private communication public.

Is it a normal practice to forward on a private message from one party
to the other, in this forum..... to everyone? I am a very private person,
and don't appreciate this one iota. You can write whatever you want to, as
can I. I just find the breech of my private opinion to you, reenforces what
I said to you, albeit PRIVATELY, that you are a person lacking in manners
AND class. Or was it dignity and class? *nodding* I'll add manners to the
list. For someone so steadfast in lawyers doing the right thing in a court
of law, you might want to consider thinking about "doing the right thing"
yourself. Just because you CAN post my private message to you, in public,
does not in ANY WAY mean that you SHOULD.

As a matter of fact, I DO use the delete key on a regular basis. Less
so these days, since the religious haggling has died down somewhat.

      Good day, Mr. Fox.

Janesta and those that share her point of view [all or in part],

        Thank you for your comments.

It would miraculous and surprising if everyone one participating in
an online or other forum agreed with or was pleased by everything everyone
else wrote.

If I have read the many thousands of Vision 2020 posts and responses
correctly, many participants express a great variety of responses to other
postings: various nuances of agreement, anger, disgust, helplessness,
amusement, shock, befuddlement, cluelessness, etc. are evident. This is to
be expected in an open, public forum in a community with a wide variety of
outlooks, manners of expression, talents, subjects of interest, and
gradients of education and knowledge. Also to be considered: although many
claim to, observations lead one to believe that no one person or
organization owns the truth -- the universe is too complicated to be
understood by a single person or group.

While Dan Carscallen and I do not always agree, I appreciate his
terse humor. I appreciate Sunil's polite, incisive, persistent commentary,
and Saundra Lund's, Rose Huskey's, and Joan Opyr's brisk, cutting irony,
sarcasm, and willingness to research facts. Although I seldom agreed with
Dale Courtney, I respected his willingness to present statistics and graphs
to argue his point of view. I appreciate Tom Hansen's sometimes emotional
postings and labor intensive, caring allied website. I don't always agree
with Tim Lohrman, but I try to see exactly where he is coming from and learn
from it. LuJane and I have quite different worldviews. The list could go
on and on.

Each individual has their own point of view and preferences.

Similarly, when presenting a point of view, a writer has his choice
of many different literary devices. Depending on the circumstances,
subject, stimulus, and objectives, a writer attempts to choose, perhaps in
error, the most effective devices to reach their goals.

You find the device I used in the post at issue to be tasteless and
objectionable. There is no doubt that it is quite graphic parody -- a
device sometimes used by other Vision 2020 posters and surprise: millions
of other writers. Depending on their point of view and life's experience,
some readers might find such graphic parody extreme. Those that participate
in national on-line forums and/or frequently read OP-ED pages probably would
not find it so.

I purposely changed the title of the thread at issue so as to warn
potential readers. When seeing the title "Inspirational Story of the Cult
Master's Testicles," the timid should guess that the content would not be as
tame or as civil as would the content expected in a post entitled "High Tea
at Good Samaritan Village." Delete keys have their uses.

I hope that most of us can agree that free expression of ideas and
the way chosen to express those ideas is one of the most important,
fundamental elements of an open, secular society. Just as you are free to
say what you wish and how to say it, others are also. That is what makes us
free.

Each of us must choose which of our ever-evolving opinions to
express and how to express them to reach certain goals. It would be an
exercise in extreme egotism to think that one's writings would have a
desirable, persuasive, positive effect on all members of the reading
audience. I entertain no such hopes. In fact, I would be happy for a 5%
positive response; perhaps even that is too high.

Thank you again for your feedback. Your (or anyone else's)
censorious use of the delete key for any of my future posts would certainly
be understandable and not at all objectionable. However, please consider
allowing each individual the freedom to decide what to do with any
particular posting -- each can invoke their own censor without help from the
rest of us.

        Respectfully,

        Wayne

While I find little to concur with these days regarding Mr.
Wilson, and what he espouses, and I do consider myself "normal". I find this
exercise in writing to be in very poor taste for this forum. It shows a real
lack of dignity and class on your part, Mr. Fox. I fail to see the humor in
it. Am I alone in feeling this way?

            Saundra (and other Normal Folks),

Thank you for your Vision 2020 reposting, appropriately on
Sunday, of some of Moscow, Idaho Christ Church Cult Master Douglas Wilson’s
views on women.

            Wilson’s deep, gut-churning, almost-lethal-flatulence producing
fear and massive ignorance of women as well as his quavering horror of
castration torturously screams out from his writings. However, it is too
late for him to worry about losing his balls. Fait Accompli.

Further, it is particularly uncanny that you raised the issue of
the Cult Master’s testicles at this particular time!

I’ve just been updated about their status by inside man Gray
Greenphlegm (Zoomie’s Bakery, Booger’s Coffee House, Greenphlegm Coffee,
Balls and Crotch Book Stall, etc.). The true story of the misadventures of
the Cult Master’s balls is a marvelous, divinely inspired, modern religious
parable.

We last heard of the Cult Master’s balls when they were in the
hands (no pun intended) of Rose Huskey, sorceress and excisor by her wit of
pathetic Douglas Wilson’s balls.

Rose was exhibiting these singular objects around the Palouse
not only because they formerly belonged to the Cult Master, but because of
their curious, unexpected properties. First, coming from such a large,
obese man the testicles were tiny and underdeveloped. Second, they were not
ovoid but round like those of a hyena. Third, they were not flesh colored
but were an amazing bright scarlet. “They look like rotten miniature
beets!” exclaimed both attorney Gregor Dickistoosmal and Aaron Retch of the
Collegiate Deformed Fellowship.

Rose Huskey is a practical woman. For exhibition purposes, she
was carrying the Cult Master’s testicles around in a zip-lock bag.
Unfortunately, she was almost run down in that dangerous crosswalk by the
Moscow Police Station. During her scurry, she accidentally dropped Douglas
Wilson’s balls.

Fortunately, they were immediately found by Eileen I. Wantout,
famous, eccentric Moscow sculptress and member of the Christ Church Cult.

It is well known that an insanely driving creative urge
sometimes seizes and possesses Ms. Wantout. This time the urge hit her when
she was in a semi-comatose state induced by listening to one of Douglas
Wilson’s taped sermons. In her impaired state she mistook the Cult Master’s
balls for play-dough. She then tried to fashion them into shapes of small
animals and religious icons. Unfortunately, this did not work.

Giving her effort up as a lost cause, Eileen returned the Cult
Master’s mangled balls to their zip-lock bag and absentmindedly put them in
her purse. Like Thales of yore, Eileen sometimes wanders about with her
wits focused on things other than where she is going or what she is doing.
Consequently, her purse was snatched.

When the snatcher opened the purse to extract its treasures, the
first thing he discovered was the Cult Master’s tiny, mangled balls. This
so thoroughly discommoded the snatcher that he threw the zip-lock bag with
the tiny scarlet, rotten beet look-alikes into the first automobile with an
open window he found.

Miraculously, the receiving vessel belonged to Norma Stonewell,
internationally famous painter. Stonewell had recently and graciously
volunteered to do an 11 x 8 foot inspirational painting for the University
of Idaho’s Women’s Center. She was artistically blocked, however, because
she was unable to find a pigment of just the right color for strategic parts
of her brilliant artistic conception.

Talk about divine serendipity! The Cult Master’s balls were
exactly the natural color Stonewell was looking for!

The rest is history. Stonewell immediately took the Cult Master
’s testicles to her studio. Norma then crushed and ground Douglas Wilson’s
balls with her massive mortar and pestle, adding secret ingredients and thus
making pigment from them. She then painted feverishly for several weeks to
produce her now famous masterpiece of classical religious allegory.

As most of you know the painting depicts a young woman standing
triumphantly over the body of a dead pastor who had just ordered her death
by stoning in a great, blithering rage. The young woman had dared to
declare that women have the same rights as men! The pastor depicted in the
painting is an utterly unmistakable image of the gluttonous Douglas Wilson.

Exhibiting a brilliant stroke of divinely inspired, stunning
symbolism and subtext, the painting clearly shows that the pastor choked to
death after swallowing a gargantuan gob of eagle feces. There is no other
reasonable interpretation than this massive, multi-colored, amorphous mass
fell from the sky just as the pastor was looking upward exhorting God to
visit holy, heinous, basaltic vengeance on the young woman.

Stonewell’s vivid, meticulous portraiture of the nearby, still
circling eagle and the scrupulously detailed partially saliva-covered flecks
and jagged clumps of eagle feces spewed in and around the mouth and beard of
the dead pastor (whose lips and interior mouth were colored in part using
the pigment described above) are considered to be the finest examples of
micro-detailing in the history of painting. In fact, as most know,
Stonewell unanimously won the Nobel Prize for this magnificent work of art
as well as unanimously winning many other prestigious awards. Many claim
that in voting for all these awards, the juries were directly guided by the
hand of God.

Norma Stonewell’s painting, entitled “God Drops a Hint”, adorns
a wall of the UI Women’s Center. Despite having lost his balls, this
exhibition must make Cult Master Douglas Wilson feel especially warm and
prickly all over: His former testicles are now helping to inspire women of
all ages, races, and sexual orientations toward achieving full equality and
full self-realization.

In a previous posting the following was mentioned when Wilson’s
son-in-law, Ben Merkle, also lost his balls also to Rose Huskey’s castrating
wit. (Now, Ben’s balls are enshrined in the giant jar of pickled eggs at
the Corner Club.) According to the Know-Alls at Christian Bestiality,
testicles from an Athabaskan pygmy goat could normally be transplanted onto
the Cult Master. This was diligently and strenuously tried, but
unfortunately, the operation was a failure. The goat testicles rejected the
patient.

            Sincerely,

            Wayne

            | Hi Mr. Fox,
            |
            | I'm not at all surprised by Wilson's Absent Without Leave blog
entry. For
            | the benefit of new V2020 members and for those who may have
missed it the
            | first time around, I'm going to repost part of my "Why
Moscow?" post from a
            | couple of months ago.
            |
            | Wilson has written:
            | "If those who hate the Word of God can succeed in getting
Christians to be
            | embarrassed by any portion of the Word of God, then that
portion will
            | continually be employed as a battering ram against the godly
principles that
            | are currently under attack. In our day, three of the
principal issues are
            | abortion, feminism, and sodomy."
            |
            | Clearly, then, we understand Wilson and his church's position
on "abortion,
            | feminism, and sodomy." <sigh>
            |
            | However, how many of us knew that Wilson's opposition to equal
rights for
            | women is rabid enough that should women be allowed in combat
to defend our
            | country, he would advocate the following?
            |
            | "The American military is currently acting the part of a weak
sister. The
            | pressure is on to bring women into combat roles. . .
Indications of our
            | cultural dissolution are legion these days, but this one ranks
in the top
            | five . . . A nation defended by her women is a nation no
longer worth
            | defending. When women are placed in the front line of
defense, every
            | Christian man should walk away from the cause of that nation
as being
            | beneath contempt. Taking this a step further, a nation as far
gone as to
            | think that women in combat is a viable way to go is a nation
which is no
            | longer defensible in principle-even if there remains a
misguided desire to
            | defend it. Men who understand their duties in this regard . .
. should
            | recognize that the result of all our evangelical dithering
about is that the
            | nation which we call the United States has already been lost."
            |
            | Wow!
            |
            | Since the US is already "lost," what, then, is a man to do?
Well, never
            | fear because Wilson has your answer, and it offers further
insight into his
            | empire building here in Moscow:
            |
            | "Families should begin congregating in communities where these
duties are
            | understood, and the men of those communities have every
intention of
            | fulfilling those duties. Christian men who are in the
military should get
            | out at the first lawful opportunity and move to a community
where they may
            | defend their families instead of their current unwilling
defense of the
            | feminist agenda . . . The prohibition to women in Deuteronomy
22:5 is one
            | which blindsides us. We knew abortion and homosexuality were
abominations."
            |
            | Double-wow!! So, is it Wilson's perception that *our* Moscow
community
            | *doesn't* support women's rights (among other things)??? I
guess he thinks
            | it doesn't really matter what our community values since his
empire is
            | recruiting people to move to our community who share his
desires for a
            | theocracy -- I guess he figures (incorrectly, I hope) that has
to start
            | someplace, so he's targeted our community as the first step
:-( That seems
            | clear to me in spite of Wilson's public protestations
otherwise.
            |
            | I hope and pray this community will continue to wake up and
smell Wilson's
            | coffee . . . and understand *why* it's necessary to speak out
against such
            | wickedness. He has a very clearly stated agenda that I
believe is abhorrent
            | to our community and flatly antithetical to what makes our
community Moscow.
            |
            | But, please, Please, PLEASE *don't* take my word for it! Go
straight to the
            | horse's mouth and read Wilson's own published words. Compare
and contrast
            | what he says when he's talking to others who share his beliefs
with what he
            | says when he's addressing those who don't share his particular
flavor of
            | Christianity. As a community, I hope we will continue to use
our collective
            | critical thinking skills to keep the wool from being pulled
over our eyes.
            |
            | So, please remind me again: who is it that's supposed to be
intolerant???

            |
            | Normal Folks,
            |
            | The following is a dido (perhaps, some might uncivilly say
"dildo"[you can
            | infer his target]) from Christ Church Cult Master Douglas
Wilson's
            | self-sucking weblog (webblot?) www.dougwils.com.
            |
            | Not only should women be disallowed from being on the board of
his two-bit
            | cult school, Bogus School, (despite the fact at the time of
his initial
            | suggestion, both the President and Prime Minister of Finland
were women),
            | but apparently women should not be given the freedom to choose
how they wish
            | to serve their country!
            |
            | It also appears that it is more important to the Cult Master
that he win his
            | private "cultural conflict" (anti-egalitarism) than it is for
the U.S. to
            | bring the conflict in Iraq to a satisfactory conclusion
(assuming one is

            | As the war in Iraq grinds on, multiple lessons can be gleaned
from it. And
            | not all the lessons have anything to do with the tactical
details of this
            | particular war.
            |
            | One of the most strking things about this conflict is that
when I see
            | talking heads on the teevee talking about it, whether they
support or oppose
            | the war, whether they are conservative or liberal, they always
manage to get
            | in something about how they of course support "our brave men
and women" in
            | uniform. And there, with those two words -- "and women" -- we
have a
            | showcase example of how our domestic kennel-fed conservative
leaders do not
            | have any earthly idea of what kind of cultural conflict we are
in.
            | Apparently victory in Iraq is important enough that we should
purchase it
            | through fundamental defeats here at home.
            |
            | When young girls are killed or maimed in combat, where are the
leading
            | conservative spokesmen who take the opportunity to raise the
point and press
            | it? Why does no one point out that the abomination is, you
know, abominable?
            | Of course, they don't do it then out of consideration for the
grieving
            | families. And they don't do it later because there is no
reason to when the
            | heat is off. For all the saber-rattling conservatives can do
when it comes
            | to fighting backward nations with high-tech weaponry, when it
comes to an
            | issue that might require actual courage from them, they are to
use a
            | military term, AWOL.
