[Vision2020] Am I too demanding of Customer Service?

Tom, Saundra, et al,

I know one female employee at WinCo personally and have a very candid, friendly
(platonic) relationship with her. She is a person of some intelligence and
charm. She could easily work at what she does anywhere. I trust her to be
honest with me. I have developed friendly relations with several checkers.
Perhaps, I am suddenly naive after a life of annoying skepticism, but I believe
what these people say for the most part. There may be some problems at WinCo
similar to almost every employment situation, but nothing out of the ordinary as
far as I can see.

On the other hand though I seldom go there, I have heard several Tidyman's
female employees complain to customers who are their friends even as they work,
especially about benefits, but not so with female WinCo employees. It is not
hard to find WalMart employees complaining to each other (perhaps justifiably)
about their employment situation.

We are not talking about a cult were dissent and expressing concerns to
outsiders is not tolerated, but an open, successful business with employees that
do not appear to show overt or covert fear of reprisal. Most of the checkers
are friendly and appear happy to be doing what they are being paid to do. WinCo
checkers appear at least as happy as those found elsewhere.

I do not know the differences in wages paid by the various grocery stores, but
if a store is benefiting the entire community by offering much lower prices,
then maybe (if such is the case) slightly lower wages are justified in the big
picture.

If you visit all the grocery stores on early Friday evening, you will see what I
mean.

I am always open to more verifiable evidence. I looked for it before, but could
not find it, although I found some sour grapes from some disgruntled former
employees only very tangentially related to the allegations against WinCo.

Respectfully,

Wayne

| Logically speaking, Mr. Fox, the likelihood of a female employee of WinCo
| claiming that she is being exploited is extremely remote. Unless, of course,
| she no longer wishes to be a female employee of WinCo.
|
| To verify either side of this argument, you would have to speak with former
| employees of WinCo.
