[Vision2020] Customer Service in Moscow

Unlike some of you, I have had mostly good experiences while shopping at Tidyman's and appreciate their community support of events like Kid's Rendezvous.  I have refused to shop at Safeway since Aug. 2002, when there appeared to be Moscow police in the Safeway parking lot during the Fair accosting people and asking them where they were going--Safeway's effort to keep fairgoers from using their parking lot. WinCO I avoid unless I can get there before 8:00 a.m.--entirely too crowded otherwise.

You want bank horror stores?  Last year one of my checks was returned to Verizon by U.S. Bank, resulting in temporary suspension of my phone service.  The reason tendered by the bank?  Too much ink on the check resulting from THEIR processing of my check!  Although I spoke with the manager, I never once received an apology nor the follow-up call the manager promised to make to me.  A month later I was at the downdown U.S. bank drive-through to cash a $60 check written on my checking account for cash.  The teller informed me that it couldn't be cashed because there was a stop payment on it!  Although I tried at least three times before giving up to tell her that I had JUST written the check on my own account, I kept getting the same response.  After calling the Blaine branch, I discovered that the stop payment warning had resulted because of a stop payment I had put on a check for the same amount from six months ago!!!  The fact that the date of the check and the check no. we!
 re not the same didn't seem to register wtih the teller.  Am I wrong to expect a bank to hire reasonably intelligent people to handle money?
