Years ago, the County was offered the option to actually buy the old =
Moscow Mall (Eastside Marketplace) for one million dollars. The also =
could have sold the current courthouse to the School district. That =
seems a lot cheaper than what this expansion is going to cost us, adn it =
would have helped out the school district as well. I guess that would =
have just been too logical.=20

Subject: [Vision2020] courthouse expansion
Jeff Harkins recently posted his opinion about the Feb 4 bond
election about the $2.5 million courthouse expansion.
My addition to his comments focus on the last time this "crowded
conditions" argument was raised about 10 years ago. The commissioners
sent the licensing bureau to rented space in the Eastside Marketplace
(where the bureau remains today). Jack Nelson told me that the bureau
will not be brought back to the new courthouse following the expansion,
and that the move has worked well for customers as well as the county.
If this move was so successful, why not do it again with other parts
of the county government? Would that solve the overcrowding?
I hope to pose that question and maybe others to Jack Nelson
directly when he appears on Tim's KUOI radio show Sunday (see reprint of
his announcement below).
If you have questions, it would be a good time to ask them.
