In tonight's Daily News there was a small Associated Press
story on page 3 saying that the 34 Emporium stores would go
out of business. In an ideal world, an ideal newspaper being
published in Moscow would report that the store at the
Palouse Empire Mall is one of the 34, and would run the
story on the front page.

KREM, channel 2 in Spokane, ran the news as its top story,
but then went on to expose the economic acuity of an
Emporium shopper. She was quoted as saying that closing a
store hurt the economy.
