do you have any idea the local controversy that surrounds Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho at the moment?

i point you to the following:

1. from the credenda/agenda (Christ Church's publication), around 4/02 - written by Doug Wilson:

By the time you receive this, our local police will probably have forgotten all about it, so a little bragging is now safe, and perhaps it is even in order. But first some background. Our local city council, through a series of ridiculous circumstances, decided to quit restricting female toplessness. The noble senior editor of this journal, encouraged by some winks and nudges from me, not that he needed any, made up a flyer which announced a topless and proud lecture series by topless feminist scholars. The titles of the talks were the typical postmodern hoohah-"Topless Shadows: A Personal Narrative," "Destabilizing the Topless/Bottomless Duality," "Breasts as Embodied Intuitions," you get the drift. Some of our stalwart young Christian men, majoring in Christian culture and skylarking, papered the university with these flyers, and the next morning a bunch of them were faxed all over campus. Now you know that we live in sad days, days when satire is increasingly difficult, a!
 nd almost
impossible. The radio station announced the lectures all day, an instructor out of the women's center announced the lectures to a class, and the English department (listed on the flyer as sponsor) called the announced location to find out if they were in fact going on.

Well, some authorities at the University of Idaho went sideways, and had the cops out looking for the culprits. When they demanded to see the film from the security cameras at Kinko's (whence the faxes had been sent), our noble editor contacted the established authorities (Rom. 13), who told him it wasn't funny. He responded that on the contrary it was, and the next day gave out a press release on how the university was trying to repress the true, the good and the lovely.

Needless to say, lots of people showed up for the non-event, and all this happened on April 1. All in all, it was a bad day for the tight-lipped fundamentalists of the left.

2. from the website of a Reformed Presbyterian - http://www.hyperthinking.us/weblog/archives/2003_02.html February 03, 2003Wisdom, Doug Wilson: what "brand" does he have?
Here's the next round of stuff from Doug Wilson: Giving Offense - Amended; and A Short Credo to Help the Heresy Hunt Along.

The "amended" version of "Giving Offense" has 4 new points tacked onto the bottom, as well as a "thanks" for the help of James Jordan with some of it.

It'd be one thing if his "amended" versions of his Credo's would be helpful, but they aren't. Just worse rhetoric, firey spitting -- name calling. It's entirely sad because he's setting himself up as a wise older man, one who deserves honor. He's acting like he's in 4th Grade. So very sad.

His attitude is one similar to other elderly people I know, the "years" equal status. Um No. Only if one has grown in Wisdom. Godly Wisdom isn't handed out to every gray haired person. And you don't have to have gray hair to have attained a status of a wisdom bearer. Mr. Wilson thinks he's wise. He's right, he's a wise-guy.

3. from the local newspaper in Moscow, Idaho:

“‘Don’t Allow Evil to Triumph’ letter to the editor by Wayne Fox, Moscow, Idaho (Daily News, 5/21/03)

Con artists, card sharks, frauds, and other phonies succeed in feigning confidence, honesty, sometimes holiness, and heartfelt, genuine interest in their victims. Scam artists consider the deeply religious, who have already demonstrated the propensity to suspend critical judgment, to be among their easiest marks.

Scammers use smoke-screening to divert victims’ attention when asked probing questions they wish to circumvent.

The responses from Logos School to community criticism do not deny their male, white supremacy viewpoints but cleverly try to shift focus elsewhere. Given the large amount of paper and Internet documents now available to residents, any attempt to deny their viewpoints would add overt dishonesty to their bigotry.

Douglas Wilson claims that artwork revering the Confederacy is for history teaching only. If illustrations in history books and work materials were the only presence, no objection would be raised.

Prominently displayed portraits of a Confederate baptism and an allegedly ‘godly’ Confederate general who was a vigorous white male supremacy and pro slavery proponent and also a scoundrel are a different matter. Of all the multitude of artwork revering people who have made genuine contributions to the welfare of humankind, Logos School chooses to revere someone who decidedly did not. Quite revealing. It also is pathetic that Wilson cannot write a smoke screen letter without making anti-Semitic allusions.

The controversy surrounding this cult is sadly reminiscent of Jim Jones and David Koresh where members adulated and focused upon the cult leader rather than the alleged deity they allegedly claimed to worship. Decent people can try to prevent the tragedies of the Jones and Koresh cults from ultimately happening here. They can boycott and persuade others to boycott Logos School, New Saint Andrews College, Christ Church and the businesses that support them. For good people to do nothing is, in Burke’s words, ‘to let evil triumph.’”

Doug Wilson Mocks Joe MorecraftPosted: 4/28/2003
Friends, In the latest issue of Credenda-Agenda magazine edited by Douglas Wilson, the juveniles-in-charge include a parody of an ad for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese: Craft Morecaroni and Cheese. Witty, eh? Hardly. Apparently taking their cue from Gary North, Ph.D.,notorious for his end of the world prophecies about Y2K, who ridiculed Morecraft last year when the Reformed Presbyterian Church in the United States denounced the heresies of Wilson and his sandbox buddies, the Muscovites have accomplished a great deal in the last decade or so: a church, a denomination, a magazine, a publishing company, two schools, and a casino. Who would have thought acting like smart-alecks could take them so far? But then this is "postmodern America," and they seem to have read their audience right. Mocking men of God for their defense of the Gospel of justification by faith alone is, however, not a laughing matter, but a punishable offense, and God will punish the mockers. Maybe not today, nor e!
 ven next
year, but soon, and with the inexorability of the divine justice they think so lightly of. Remember 2 Kings 2:23-24. John Robbins The Trinity Foundation
