Dear Parents, 

 

Even though today looks a lot like winter with our new blanket of snow,
we are busily preparing for spring activities and today we held our
All-School Winter Activities Awards assembly. Over two hundred students
were recognized for their outstanding participation.  We are proud of
the teamwork and individual efforts displayed by all of our students.

 

Our annual "Pennies for Leukemia" community service project that we just
completed was very successful.  M.J.H.S. raised over $4,000.00 for this
very worthy activity.  Mr. Garrett's class was the top large class
winner, and Mrs. Golightly's class was the small class winner.  Other
class winners included Mr. Sheaff, Mrs. Flom, Mrs. Lynn, and Mrs.
Quesenbery.  We would also like to thank the downtown branch of the U.S.
Bank for counting all of our change.  This is the highest total that our
school has achieved in recent memory.

 

If your son or daughter is interested in participating in 7th and 8th
grade Track, a parent meeting will be held at 6 p.m., on Wednesday,
March 11 at our Multi-Purpose Room.  The meeting will last about a half
hour and will include important information about the program that
starts on March 23.  Most 9-12 activities programs have already begun,
and if you are interested in more information, please contact the MJHS
office.

 

The ninth grade dance is set for April 3rd from 8-11 p.m. This dance is
advertised as "dress-up, not formal.  M.J.H.S. does not endorse tuxedo
and formal rentals, limo rentals, or other activities such as expensive
dinners that are inappropriate at this age level.  If one of our 9th
grade students intends to invite a guest that is not a ninth grade
student at MJHS, they must get a permission slip from the office, fill
it out, and return it to the office by March 27 for approval to be
considered.  More information will be distributed to 9th grade students
in the next week.

 

Ninth grade students and their parents will begin their tenth grade
registration activities for the 09-10 school year on Wednesday, March 25
at 6:30 p.m. in the Moscow High School Auditorium.  Following that
meeting, the high school counselors will visit our Science classrooms to
more completely describe the registration process.  Students will then
visit with their parents to complete their class registration requests.

 

Eighth grade students and their parents are invited to their ninth grade
orientation on Monday, March 23rd at 7:00 pm at the MJHS Multi-Purpose
Room.  Important information about high school credits and class
registration opportunities will be discussed.  Following that meeting,
registration activities will take place in Science classes.  Students
will then visit with their parents to complete their class registration
requests.

 

Seventh grade students will participate in eighth grade registration
activities in their Science classes on April 9th and 10th.  They will be
bringing registration packets home to discuss with their parents that
week.  

 

This is a busy time at MJHS with spring activities, the 09-10
registration process, and our regular round of the spring ISAT procedure
that will begin on April 13.  School attendance is very important to
keep up with academics and to participate in the many activities that
are taking place.  Please contact us if you have any questions or
