Meeting Minutes

January 6, 2009

Principal's Report

*	School reorganization big topic this semester.  Moving to 7/5/5/5/7
schedule in the fall and working on access plan.  Three-pronged study:

-teacher-training for teaching in a 70-minute block

-how access period will function

-redefinition of how 7th grade team will function

*	Calendar

-busy with drama performances

-Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday Finals schedule

-second semester schedules distributed during lunchtime on the 15th

-no school Friday and Monday

-29th winter activities awards and spelling bee

*	Stage curtains: done except for valences.  
*	Weather station project in the first phase- get it on the roof.
Integrated learning with math/science/computer - software to provide
historical data.  Donations from Schweitzer covered 50%.  Eventually will
purchase and install a weather cam.  

                

Financial Report:  Peggy Jenkins - under $1000.

 

Boxtops-  Faye Nagler- $125 submitted (money sent back twice/year) When shop
online with certain sites, get up to 8% of funds for boxtops.  We'll have a
school-wide contest in February

 

Superintendent's Report: (from Lisa Morris, via Peggy): Because of the levy
money, the school district is in fairly good shape.  Sue Driscoll retired
and has been replaced by Deb Adair.  Eldene's (secretary at Lena) retirement
party is January 19.

 

Parent Night:  - January 29 

Faye: Taco Bar, parents desserts

Charlie Gerke: content

Peggy will set up daytime meeting for publicity

GT program:  will do childcare

Cub Communicator goes out the week before with report caards

Other publicity possibilities: Wed. folders in the elementary schools and
list-serves; also Moscow United/Hockey

February 3, 2009

Vice Principal's Report 

*	Moscow Police Department has a specialist on internet rimes.  He
might be a good parent presentation before end of school.  
*	Pennies for Leukemia starts tomorrow and will go through next
Thursday
*	Dance next Thursday
*	Going down to Lewiston to see opportunities for access periods
(access period will consist of 70 minutes once/week).      

 

Teacher Appreciation Event - Aleisha Barber - Will be Feb. 12 - theme
Valentine's Day

 

Financial Report:  Peggy Jenkins - $700 in the parent group account. No
other big projects coming up.

 

Boxtops-  Faye Nagler- possible competition in Feb.  Kevin suggested it
could be put in bulletin.

 

Superintendent's Report: Jeanne Gayler: Book drive discussed and budget.
Budget much better off than other places.  Plan to reduce number of days
would not affect students (would take away in-service days). McCall Outdoor
School got a 3-year reprieve. Activated rift policy, but hopefully through
retirement, it won't be needed.  

 

Parent Night:  - Parent night a success.  The WSU fraternity and Patty's
kitchen should have thank yous.

 

Other -  Peggy - Plans for next year.  Important to have continuity for the
parent group.  Whoever takes over as chair will have great people to rely
on.
