[Mjhsteam] Former Student Death

Dear Parents, 

 

This morning we had the responsibility to inform our students about the
death of a former MJHS and MHS student.  The student was known by many
of our students and staff.  Our staff members were notified yesterday
immediately after school, and students were notified early this morning.
The student's name was Forrest Blakesley.  His Father, Glenn Blakesley,
has been a well-known substitute teacher in our building and district.

 

We stressed the importance of being sensitive to the feelings of fellow
students and teachers who may have had a close personal relationship
with the family.  Counselors and our District "Crisis Team" were
available to talk with students and staff in the Counseling Center as
needed.  MJHS has always been known for its support of others,
especially in times of personal loss.  This incident, like others in the
past, was handled in a very supportive and caring fashion.  

 

We have learned that the funeral will be held at the Church of the
Nazarene this coming Tuesday at 10:00 am.  If you want your son or
daughter to attend the funeral, we strongly recommend that you, the
parent, attend with them.  If you and your son or daughter plan to
attend, please contact the school ahead of time to let us know when you
will be picking up your child.  Students will not be released from
school to anyone except the parent.   In issues such as this, the school
takes safety considerations very seriously, and we value your
understanding of our responsibilities to all of the students in the MJHS
community.
