[Liability Insurance] REMINDER - Florida Bar RPPTL Insurance & Surety Committee Conference Call - Monday, November 18, 2019, beginning at Noon

Folks,

This is a reminder that our monthly Insurance & Surety Committee call is scheduled for Monday, November 18, 2019 - beginning at Noon (Eastern).  Attached for our call are the following: (1) Agenda for Monday's call; (2) the October Meeting Minutes; (3) CLE Certification Credits Report; (4) the presentation for Monday's CLE; (5) HB 359; and (6) SB 914.  On our call, we will have a report from our Legislative Subcommittee regarding its recent review of the attached HB 359 and SB 914, which amend various provisions of the insurance code.

If you would like to present, or have any topic suggestions, for our upcoming open CLE spot at our January 27, 2019 and February 24, 2019 meeting, please don't hesitate to contact our Vice Chair Katherine Heckert or myself.  And speaking of those meetings, please DON'T FORGET that for the months of January and February we move our monthly calls to the FOURTH (4th) Monday of those months to accommodate for the National Holidays in those months.

Our speaker for Monday's CLE will be Dana Chaaban, Esq., and her presentation is called  "Basic Principles of Construction Insurance."  Her presentation will discuss the fundamentals of construction insurance, some common pitfalls and claims for damage to property or persons often arising in connection with ongoing or completed construction projects. Ms. Chaaban is an associate with Carlton Fields out of their Miami office, and her practice focuses on construction and commercial litigation. She represents developers, contractors, material suppliers, design professionals, and carriers in disputes involving construction defect claims, delay claims, construction lien and insurance issues, and contracts.
