[RPPTL constructionlaw]

Folks,

For clarification, the “proposed amendment” I circulated yesterday is NOT a RPPTL-proposed amendment.  Far from it.  Those on the call heard that this amendment is expected to be proposed tomorrow by the chair of the Senate Committee on Community Affairs, and simply would make SB 736 minimally less awful than the current version of the bill.  It has been described as a more politically astute version of the current bill, but would still deny access to the courts to countless owners of detached single family homes with construction defects.  No one should confuse this (anticipated) amendment with any position taken by RPPTL or the Construction Law Committee.

As promised on today’s call, find attached SB 736 as originally filed and the proposed amendment.  To recap, the CLC voted to oppose the bill, RPPTL is providing “technical advice” through its lobbyist, and this bill is scheduled to be heard in the Senate Committee on Community Affairs this Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
