I will just chime in on the cautionary tale - as a 15 year former insurance
defense attorney.
I began my career by spotting the places where BAD public adjusters would
inflate inventory to help cover the cost of their services.
The most egregious was the house fire where an entire basement only
accessible from outside wasn't damaged at all and included a specialized
piece of machinery that was still i the factory plastic wrap. We denied
the claim. Were sued. Won a defense verdict at trial.
I also had someone try to use a "list price" for a commercial grade
refrigerator that was $18,000 more than the actual sales price.
Yes there are amazing public adjusters out there. Be wary of anyone who
tries to sell you the Grand Canyon, they will simply end up costing you the
entire claim for Misrepresentations of Material Fact. And it only takes
one.
