<div dir="ltr"><div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif">I will just chime in on the cautionary tale - as a 15 year former insurance defense attorney. </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif">I began my career by spotting the places where BAD public adjusters would inflate inventory to help cover the cost of their services. </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif">The most egregious was the house fire where an entire basement only accessible from outside wasn't damaged at all and included a specialized piece of machinery that was still i the factory plastic wrap. We denied the claim. Were sued. Won a defense verdict at trial. </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif">I also had someone try to use a "list price" for a commercial grade refrigerator that was $18,000 more than the actual sales price. </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif">Yes there are amazing public adjusters out there. Be wary of anyone who tries to sell you the Grand Canyon, they will simply end up costing you the entire claim for Misrepresentations of Material Fact. <span style="font-size:11pt">As a fire survivor myself with a total loss fire just over 2 years ago (and dealing with insurance since), I would strongly suggest hiring a public adjuster rather than an attorney. There is a very respected PA company called
Adjusters International here in Seattle (principal is an attorney), who I have worked with throughout. They have been amazing at getting me every penny I was due under my insurance policy and being the trusted advocate for all companies involved. There is
ZERO chance I could have gotten through the last 2 years without their assistance. From teaching me aspects of my insurance policy that allowed me the max benefit for ALE payout, to spending weeks in my burned home shell doing an inventory of every single
item (over10,000 lines on a spreadsheet all with specifics and values), to providing a contractor’s full cost itemization that laid the basis for over $150K more on my build reimbursement….. I cannot speak highly enough. Yes, they take a percentage of some
of your policy (not ALE), but they definitely earned it and I received more than I would have without them.</span></p>
