No need to change name on title for your easement simply say X formerly known as y as the owner of the property which is granting or a subject to the easement

I did have to bring a document to the clerk's office once to prove that a person was another person's son - birth certificate. You might get a copy of the name change just in case the clerk in this county wants to be a stickler about this.

For the easement I would use the new name and say “ who took title as” _____. You could also add something that says see cause # ---- for name change if you want to be really helpful to subsequent readers. I don’t think you need to record a new deed.

Subject: [WSBARP] REET Affidavit Exemption for Legal Name Change

I do a lot of property transfers that are exempt from REET for various reasons but have not ever had a legal name change situation. Client needs to record an easement and now has a different name than when client took title. Curious which WAC exemption is typically used for this. None of the listed ones seem to apply.

Thanks in advance
