While easing into retirement I just bought a Simmons electronic drum set for under $500. The technology is incredible and I can listen thru headphones w/o annoying neighbors, friends and family .

I grew up with 3 brothers that all played drums at various times and I can still hear my Mom saying the house was so loud she couldn’t “hear [herself] think”. An electronic drum set would have been a game changer.  The fact the girl wants to play should be encouraged and this day and age there doesn’t have to be collateral ear damage.

I might suggest offering assistance in obtaining a drum riser or isolation pad. These can be purchased for a few hundred to a few thousand dollars (likely cheaper than an attorney) and can support young artists while getting some much needed peace and quiet. (I have a drummer upstairs as well, so I do understand)

School will be back in session soon as well, so the hours will likely be more limited.

If your client has spoken to the neighbor but to no avail (and the HOA continues to be worthless), your client can 1) ask your client to attend a mediation to try to resolve the issue, or 2) file a complaint with the city or county, depending on where your client lives. There are city ordinances against  public disturbance and nuisance noise.

If your client would like to preserve the relationship (what little there is- you never know when you will need to borrow cup of sugar.... ), mediation is a good option.

Listmates,   I have a client that lives in a condo and is home all day.   The upstairs neighbor has decided that their daughter is the worlds next drum super star and bought her an entire kit.   Practice starts at 8 AM and continues off and on until 8 PM or later.  My client is climbing the wall but I have not researched how annoying your neighbor can be before triggering a cause of action.  The HOA board and management is worthless.   Thoughts?
