Contact the jail.  Each one has a different process for serving, but it can be done.  As to personal property, when you get that far, I would either plan to hold for 45 days and serve with the notices, or try to get them to sign an agreement stating that a representative will pick up their property on a certain day and that anything left after that day is abandoned.

Listmates:

Tenant sits in jail with a pending assault charge.  LL would like to evict as rent not paid for months.  I do not see any problem doing that, except, how do you serve someone in jail?  Also, assuming LL gets the writ of restitution, should LL automatically store tenants stuff until LL knows whether tenant is going to the "big house" or will be set free.
