[WSBARP] Repeal of Torrens

The KC Registrar told me last year there are still about 1,500 parcels in Torrens in this county. The procedure requires getting court pleading forms from Beresford, running them by the firm for approval at $300 a pop, then running it through Ex Parte before you finally present it to the Registrar and their dusty books. It is a dumb innovation of the “Progressive” era that should have been ended long, long ago.

But that is perhaps not surprising, giving the limited number of properties in Washington which have been registered. See the attached posting by the Washington State Association of County Auditors, which has some interesting statistics about the number of registered properties and the difficulty in dealing with them.

As a real estate broker I viewed this sort of like a Co-op, something that didn't exist in enough quantity that I wanted to bother dealing with the first one, which would likely be the last one. (Or Chapter 12 as a bankruptcy attorney with an office in Seattle.)
