[WSBARP] Increase in Recording Fee to subsidize housing

It was $8 for the 1st pg and $1 for each add’l pg until sometime in the mid 1990’s then it started increasing. In 2006 it was about $32 for 1st pg. I believe this truly is taxation without representation. Property owners and want-to-be owners have no idea these fees are subsidizing purposes other than the administrative cost of running the auditor’s office.

On 4/24 our legislature added $100 to the fee for recording documents with the county Auditor/Recorder.  I think it was about $35 not that many years (or decades) ago.
