[WSBARP] ejectment

First, she would need a Writ of Ejectment from the court clerk ($20.00) and pay the sheriff. I don't know what they charge over there but Island County sheriff charges $100.00. In other words, it was probably less expensive for her to hire the sheriff than ask an attorney how to avoid the sheriff's payment. Second, without RCW cites, every seminar I have attended has said that a WA landlord may not commit "self-help" but are required to hire the sheriff to do the dirty work in order to "keep the peace." While I realize that you are not in the LL/T context, I would be very wary of a plaintiff committing "self-help" in an ejectment action.

It seems to me that the very concept of an ejectment action is to obtain the Writ of Ejectment and get the sheriff to kick the person out.

Subject: [WSBARP] ejectment

Ex-boyfriend refused to leave the ex-girlfriend's house. We sued for ejectment. Got Order saying, among other things, that he is ejected and evicted and shall be removed forthwith. He has made no effort to leave. Girlfriend doesn't want to get the Writ of Restitution and pay for the sheriffs involvement. Can she now change the locks as long as she allows him access to the house (can he knock instead of have a key) and to his stuff?
