[WSBARP] Mexican timeshare

I recommend unhappy Mexico timeshare owners in an appropriate case consider
filing a claim with PROFECO (Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor), the
Federal Prosecutor Office for Consumers. This is an inexpensive procedure
that can be filed at any of the various Profeco offices in Mexico,
regardless of the situs of the timeshare. If the client prefers, the claim
can be filed by a Mexican attorney with a power of attorney. I am able to
conduct initial contract review and/or refer the matter to Mexico attorneys
with whom I have worked for many years. I understand from my Mexico
colleagues that sometimes timeshare sellers prefer to release the client
from the contract rather than risk a negative Profeco case.
In my experience these Mexico timeshare contracts are (a) full of adhesion
clauses; and (b) either poorly written in the original Spanish or presented
to the client with an inaccurate English translation.

Subject: [WSBARP] Mexican timeshare
Listmates, I start the new year with the perennial question of how a client
can get out of a Mexican timeshare ( Grand Mayan in Puerto Vallarta). Has
anyone had any success in getting a client extracted from these things,
other than paying the buyout they demand? Thanks in advance and Happy New
Year to everyone.
