[WSBARP] Looking for an Expert for forensic photography and imaging

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just change the fixture or put a shield inside the fixture to prevent light from shining in the neighbor’s direction? This seems like a silly waste of judicial resources.

Mike, Eric has a great idea for cost savings by looking up the rating. As far as testimonial issues that will go to weight and sufficency and there is a good chance your opponent is highly emotional which may help proof. Some bulbs such as led last a long time and some fixtures have a max bulb size (wattage) listed inside the fixture. Unless the neighbor witnessed the "changing of the bulb" there may be little contest. The photo probably shows blasting light and if digital, may have exposure or gamma modified to make it appear brighter. Computer expert can examine file. If film get the negative and have it developed. Fstop, slower shutter speeds and certain appature settings can make it look brighter but will usually result in the light source being much more exposed than the rest of the photo. Sort of "burned in." Good luck....neighbor cases are always fun...

Also, FWIW, maybe possible to look up the bulb rating and type with the manufacturer, and also the fixture can it's in (in case the fixture itself is designed to focus the bulb's light as well), and use the manufacturer's specifications. Most bulbs are described as floods, spots, diffuse, whatever, and the fixtures as well.

Sincerely,

Eric

Mike you may want a lighting expert to measure the lumens emitted and the beam focus because you could probably show it is a normal diffused light source and that would trump photos and not be to expensive. More definitive also.

TASA has directed me to a forensic photography and imaging expert out of California. That seems too expensive under the circumstances, but it is all I have so far. I was hoping for someone in Western Washington.
