[WSBARP] Question regarding residential lease

My read is that the landlord can ask the requesting party to get the signature of the divorced partner or refuse to accept renewal.
The contractual right belongs to the marital community (i.e., a partnership). The requesting ex-partner can no longer bind the partnership (the marital community) with his/her signature alone. If the requesting party cannot produce consent of both partners to the renewal, he does not have authority to exercise the right that was granted.

Subject: [WSBARP] Question regarding residential lease

Does anyone have an opinion as to whether a landlord can refuse a tenant's exercise of an option to extend a residential lease if the tenants have divorced and only one of the two tenants will be on the lease after the extension?

Thank you, Joyce
