I am probating the estate of a woman who died intestate and had no children,
spouse, registered domestic partner, or siblings. And her parents and
grandparents predeceased her. So, her heirs are the surviving descendants
of her great grandparents by representation. There are 50 of them, most of
whom I have found. Two of the heirs are minors (ages 7 and 10) and live
with their father out of state. This is a $200k estate and each minor
heir's share is de minimis - a few hundred dollars. Do I really have to get
a GAL appointed for them? If so, does anyone have any suggestions for
minimizing this expense? This is a King County probate.
