Check with your title company if this is about a sale. This just came up on
this listserve a week or two ago. You can include language in the deed
explaining; in the one I am doing I am referring to recorded documents by
numbers and gilding the lily, but my title company says I just need to
recite the name change. I want to make it clear 20 years from now in case
anything ever does come up, so the lily gets gilded.

Subject: [WSBARP] Affidavit of Identity
Does anyone have and is willing to share a template for an affidavit of
identity? I am exploring options for clearing title to real property when
the grantee name differs from the name in which she took title originally
due to marriage. Also, in a different case, for a change in the first name.
Would recording the affidavit prior to conveying the property under the new
name sufficiently serve to connect the chain of title? Any suggestions
appreciated!
Thanks,
Kate Gamble
