Jim:
Contact the charities. They often have counsel that they are associated with that they would probably love to have serve as PR.

Thanks. He is leaving his assets to charities and does not want to leave anything to his relatives. Hence, he doesn’t want to get them involved.

I guess I need a name for one of the local Professional Service Corporations.

Jim-Can’t he name a beneficiary as PR? If a sibling is nominated, or anyone else for that matter, they can always decline when the time comes or hire someone else (a professional) to do the heavy lifting (literally and/or figuratively). Good luck, Cy

There are professional service companies that do this and their rates can be very reasonable

Dear Listmates:

I have not had this one come up before.

I have a client who wants a simple Will and does not want to name anyone to act as his personal representative. He wants the State of Washington to act as the PR.

He does have a sister in Pennsylvania and one in Arkansas but does not want to burden them with the task. He does own real estate. He has no close friends that he would choose to act as his PR.

What do we do in a situation like this? I, as well as another local attorney, could act as his PR. I am wondering how others may have dealt with this kind of situation when there is no apparent PR to serve. Does the State of Washington act as PR in these kinds of cases? I have not heard of that before.

Thank you.
