Jean:

I think that’s correct.  It was initially set to expire 12/31/12 but was extended to 12/31/14 by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.  There was a legislative effort in 2013 to make the provisions of the Act permanent (and to create a private right of action to enforce the Act), but I do not believe that effort made it out of committee.

Rob, I haven’t seen that the Federal Protecting Tenants at Foreclosure Act that allows for a tenant to remain for the term of their lease or a minimum of 90 days was given new life with further extension (it was extended a previously and expires December 31, 2014).  Have you seen anything on this topic (or anyone else in our esteemed group!)

The Seattle University School of Law, in collaboration with City of Seattle, provided and produced this video. The non-foreclosure process is explained in a simple manner and encourages homeowners to seek help as soon as possible.  This short video (approximately 4 minutes in length) is well worth watching.
