[WSBAPT] Underwater car loan

Decedent owes $45k on a car worth $25k. If the car is surrendered, I'm sure
the bank will sell it at auction and get less than fair market value. Are
there other options? Will lenders ever negotiate the balance owed, for
instance if we found a buyer willing to pay $25k?
Estate is solvent, so we could pay a lump sum to the bank if they would be
willing to release the title to the purchaser.
