[WSBAPT] Schwab Refusing to Accept CPA

We recently worked with Charles Schwab on a taxable estate. We needed date of death values for the assets held at Schwab. Schwab absolutely refused to provide date of death values for an IRA for the surviving spouse citing that the estate had no interest in it. We tried to politely explain that there was a community property interest and they didn't seem to understand and continued the position. This doesn't answer your question, Jim, but it has similar issues. The estate department is outside the state of Washington.
Good luck! Eileen

Subject: [WSBAPT] Schwab Refusing to Accept CPA
Has anyone on the listserve dealt with Charles Schwab refusing to accept a Community Property Agreement to convey a very modest account to surviving spouse? By any chance has anyone dealt with local (Washington) counsel for Schwab?
Thanks in advance,
Jim Dolan
