I have had a recent experience setting up a blocked account and it was with
BECU.
First, BECU will only work with a blocked account through their two
branches (that I know of) that have actual tellers. This includes the HQ
Branch in Tukwila and then the branch off Union Street (behind Target) in
Tacoma.
Second, it takes FOREVER. OK, so maybe I am being hyperbolic on a Monday
because my hair is on fire over something else - but it did take nearly an
hour to do the entire transaction. So much so that the first time I went
in, it was me over-scheduling thinking I would have plenty of time if I
allowed for a 30 minute drop in. Nope. Had to leave and go back and start
over again another day.
Other than that - it was relatively painless. Just such a waste of time and
because it was BECU and their whole lack of tellers in most branches -
frustrating that I could only go to one of two places, neither of which are
convenient to my office.
