I haven't dealt with this exact scenario but I have had similar scenarios with financial institutions being challenging in a probate context and other contexts.

You may need go to management if you haven't done so already and explain the laws. It seems that customer service representatives or even bankers will give you different answers and aren't even sure of bank policies let alone state laws.

Branch managers or managers of specific departments tend to be more aware of what is actually required under law or if they aren't, they will take the feedback to their team and get an answer for you. I have had a branch manager who was a bit more challenging to convince, but if you have the laws ready, and show it to them, my experience has been they will listen.

Deceased spouse owned the house as separate property, but they had a community property agreement. The CPA, death certificate, and supporting affidavit have all been recorded. BECU is requiring either Letters, a new deed, or some other court order transferring the property to the surviving spouse. Has anyone had success persuading BECU that none of that is required under WA law for the house to transfer under the CPA?
