[WSBAPT] Chase Requiring Letter re: Out of State Bank Account

This comes up for me with some frequency. I will not provide such letters as Chase is requesting, but advise the client to find another bank, coordinate through a local branch of the bank, or handle opening the account here in WA when they are in town for other details.

Colleagues,

A client (PR for her father's estate) lives in Phoenix and went into a local Chase branch with her Letters, DC, and EIN to open an estate bank account.  Chase said they needed to forward her documents to their legal department for review and asked her to obtain a letter from my office stating that she has permission to open an out-of-state bank account.  The agent claimed this was common practice and said I should be familiar with the letter.  I am not.  Has anyone else run into this with Chase?
