[WSBAPT] SEATTLE HOUSING AUTHORITY

Hi All:

I have a client whose daughter has a housing voucher, and she is very afraid that her mother's testamentary Special Needs Trust for her will disqualify her for housing in the event her mom passes.

I do not have any experience with the Seattle Housing Authority, and her daughter is not able to get any assurances from them, which does not surprise me.

I said the trust would not affect her benefits, but they want more assurances.

Does the housing authority even look at assets later or have a history of disrespecting trusts?
