I know of no authority and feel like if there were, I'd have heard it over a seminar in the last 18 years.  My thought is they didn't waste any more resources after your rejection.  I think you can close and if there is a different rule, I'd think they'd be estopped from bringing it on grounds of equity.  We should not have to do any creditor's job - in this case you doing research for the creditor government.

I have an Estate in which a creditor claim was filed by the WA Employment Security Dept. and never served on my client.  He was emailed a copy of the claim.  He is serving as Administrator in his father's Estate.  I rejected the claim and heard nothing from the creditor.  They did not file suit within 30 days of the rejection.

The claim is for weekly benefits paid in 2021 and says for other overpayments which were not itemized.  Total $14,980.00.
Date of death was 5/14/22.

I want to make sure there is nothing I am missing that WA Employment Security Dept has any exceptions to for repayment of possible overpayments to the decedent.
Do you know of any rules that WA employment security dept has any superior authority to demand payment once creditor claim was rejected and they did not timely file suit?
I am getting ready to close this estate.  The creditor claim bar date is long past.
