[WSBAPT] Canadian Nominated in a Will as Guardian for Minor Child

I don’t think the end result is problematic per de but I could see the real possibility of a timing delay. With that in mind, I would visit with them about naming a temporary guardian locally and in addition discuss the possibility of the family in Canada being able to come state side as the transition is happening with compensation from the estate

Just some thoughts

 Dear List-mates,

I have a Washington couple who want to name in their wills as guardian for their minor child the wife’s brother who lives in Canada. They say they do not have anyone else.

It seems problematic at so many levels, but I do not find an outright prohibition in the RCWs.

Any suggestions?

Kind regards,
