[WSBAPT] Cost of Oregon Probate

Laura,

About 4 years ago, my client paid $5,000 for a smaller firm not in a big city to do a true single-asset estate (re)probating a Washington will. No disputes, no court appearances beyond the basic required, if any. “Minimum required everything” to sell a single-family residence.

To my understanding, Oregon requires a full probate like Washington effectively does. No simplified procedure to authorize a foreign PR to convey a single parcel of real estate like Idaho has.

Very difficult, if not impossible, to say.  A firm with high hourly rates and multiple people assigned to the estate would be expensive, while an attorney with a very good paralegal would be inexpensive.  And whether the estate is relatively straightforward is in the eye of the beholder.  Estates that are initially described as simple one-asset estates are usually not.

Does anyone have a sense of the cost and time for a relatively straightforward Oregon probate? I know some states are notoriously difficult and expensive, but I don't have a sense of the process in our neighboring state. Any feedback, even a ballpark, is useful.
