[WSBAPT] Late Creditor Claim - 1099 forgiveness of debt income?

Listmates,

Has anyone had the issue of a creditor missing the claim deadline, but
months later issuing a 1099 for forgiveness of debt in an amount
approximating to the barred claim?

I am accustomed to receiving 1099s where we settle a claim, but not where
the claim was time barred.

Does anyone have experience with this?
