Hi Eric,
I do APS defense, typically for existing clients, and I haven’t ever taken a substantiated finding to an ALJ hearing. Thankfully I have only dealt with APS on unsubstantiated or inconclusive findings.
I know Ermin Ciric at Des Moines Elder Law does APS appellate work. I would recommend they call Ermin. https://www.rm-law.com/
Another great option is Northwest Elder Law Group – Rebecca King and Chris Lee https://nwelderlaw.com/attorney-profiles/
Anita Redline in Edmonds also handles APS cases https://redlinelaw.com/areas-of-practice/
Best,
Nick

Subject: [WSBAPT] King County - referrals for APS-related consult?

Potential Client lives out of state, has a brother residing in King County. Brother is elderly with some memory loss, but PC is attorney-in-fact for brother, and the brother has round-the-clock licensed, bonded, experienced professional care in his own home. PC has learned that apparently someone has made an APS complaint, but of course APS can’t/won’t talk about status of investigation.

PC would like to consult with an attorney who can help them understand the APS, and how best to handle it.

Can anyone recommend an attorney who could consult with PC?

They do not expect this to turn into a criminal referral or other actual defense of a substantiated claim; the brother is well cared for. Just need a consult to better understand the process.

Thanks in advance,

Sincerely,

Eric
