[WSBAPT] Off topic Employment Security Dept collecting Covid payments

Off-topic inquiry about a PC that received a letter from the Employment Security Department.

PC received Covid unemployment payments over the last couple years. She works as a house cleaner, so work was on and off during that time, which she reported to unemployment. State is now saying she owes approx. $17k in overpayment amount. It also gives her about 2 weeks from the date of the letter to pay that balance. She is adamant she has given the State all relevant info about her employment status and any income she received for work. Seems pretty unreasonable to dull out the dough then ask for it back in full in two weeks...but nothing from the State should surprise me.

Has anyone dealt with this type of situation before and have any advice on her next steps?

Thanks,

Timothy C. Lehr
