Brent,
Not sure if this is the answer you’re looking for but I would not waste another moment with these people. The Executor is a matter of public record - as is the Will and hence the beneficiaries – if it’s legit, they know how to find estate information. Your representation ended when the matter was closed.

Subject: [WSBAPT] Social Security Overpayment - Feels Fishy
Brain Trust -
For the past few months I have had a very aggressive person calling my firm saying she is with Social Security and they need the name of an executor of an estate that closed last year because the Decedent had an overpayment.
I have refused to give any information because they would never give me any main number or other way of authenticating that this was not a scam.
In today's mail - a letter addressed to me laying out the alleged overpayment. Setting aside the issue of how do I claw back $2,000 from each beneficiary - the letter looks like a scam. It's balck and white, but printed as if it were on my home printer and I was trying to squeeze out four more sheets of paper before the toner officially ended. The logo itself is pixelated. NONE of the stated enclosures were actually enclosed.
There is a green, postage paid envelope addressed to Social Security Administration and when I ran a google check of the PO Box - it comes up as the place where you do send overpayments.
I have my assistant sitting on hold (going on 40 minutes) to try and talk with someone but I am curious if anyone has insight they are willing to discuss with me.
Thank you!
