Good morning-

Posting this again to see if anyone can help. :) Is the process for
appointing a successor guardian the same as for
appointing the first guardian for a special needs trust beneficiary? Mom is
the guardian of adult beneficiary daughter and wants to set up her sister
as successor guardian. Can someone please help with the steps involved?
Also, do any of the estate plan documents need to be updated to reflect the
change in adding the successor guardian or is it just done through the
Petition, GAL, hearing, and Letters?

Mom is moving to FL at the end of the year, daughter is in WA state, and
successor guardian, sister of mom, Julie, is in MN (if this has any
bearing), but mom wants to set this up now in case something happens to
her. Mom's current Letters are effective through October. Beneficiary's
brother, Vincent is in WA and here to help his sister with appointments,
etc once mom moves.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Lieberman
