[WSBAPT] New probate statutes - some effective July 25 and some on Jan. 1

By my reading, some provisions of the final bill (PDF at http://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2021-22/Pdf/Bills/Session%20Laws/Senate/5132.SL.pdf) took effect July 25 - especially see sections 4001 onward starting on PDF page 78/103; only section 4021 of this entire portion is delayed to Jan. 1, 2022.

And note that the online RCWs are NOT updated as of now at least. See, e.g., bill section 4010 on page 81 amending 11.68.090 re nonintervention powers compared to this (old statute online): https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=11.68.090 . . .

So, fun times for everyone until online RCWs get updated - unless there is a source someone has compiled with the new statues and notice language, etc.

Listmates, Client was served with Notice of Filing Decl of Completion 7/15, which was form saying she could petition the court re: reasonableness of fees within 30 days and, if she so petitioned, the estate attorney will request the court fix a time and place for hearing on her petition and notify her 10 days before the hearing. Effective 7/25, we have the new the changes to our statutes and the new form Notice which says she should petition the court under RCW 11.96A which I believe requires we file a separate TEDRA Summons and Petition and set our own hearing 20 days out. My client wants me to object to the reasonable of fees. Do I file a separate TEDRA Summons and Petition? Shannon
