[WSBAPT] Minor Blocked Accounts

You need to speak with someone higher up in the food chain, like a manager.
Reminds of the time after my dad passed away and I went to the bank with the
new tax id number for his now "Irrevocable Trust". I was advised that my
father had to come into the bank and make that change since he is the
trustee and that the successor trustee has no authority since it is my Dad's
trust. It didn't matter that I had a death certificate in my hand. I asked
to speak with a manager, since I didn't want to waste any more time with the
bank officer. To quote the comedian Bill Engvall, "here's your sign".

Happy Friday.

Subject: [WSBAPT] Minor Blocked Accounts

I have received letters from two different banks in the last 2 months that
minor blocked accounts are going to be closed and the monies sent to the
State of WA because there has been no activity in the last 2 years! Of
course there has been no activity - they are BLOCKED by the court and to
remain so until the minors reach 18 years of age.

What has changed that has prompted these banks to send these ridiculous
letters? When I called Kitsap Bank, I was told by the not so bright woman
who controlled the account that the legal department generated the letter
and that somehow it was up to the minor and me, her counsel, to now deal
with it or the monies would be sent to the State of WA. When I asked her
what authority the bank had to disregard the court order, she said - because
her legal dept said so. I responded that the only activity the account was
going to have was the deposit of terms awarded to the minor if I had to go
to court to stop the bank from touching this money. Geez.

The account was set up 6 years ago, was approved by a SGAL and the court and
there is an order in place that the account is blocked and shall remain so
until this minor reaches 18 which is 4 years from now.
