[WSBAPT] Boeing Pension

Listmates -

Decedent has two retirement death benefits with Boeing, totaling about $6,500.  Decedent had a living trust and a pour over Will.  The trustee attempted to use a Small Estate Affidavit to obtain control of the death benefit.

Boeing Retirement Service Center has rejected the claim, stating that "the benefit can only be paid to an Estate."

Has anyone run into this issue?  The client is, of course, reluctant to open a probate for such a modest sum.
